Congratulations to TCHF for their silver leaf awards!

The Colorado Health Foundation (TCHF) has won silver leaf awards for both their 2009 Health Report Card collateral and website at the 2010 Gold Leaf Awards that were held Thursday, October 21! Anabliss has been The Colorado Health Foundation’s brand manager for over five years and we’re glad to see such an initiative begin to get the recognition it deserves.

The Gold Leaf Awards honor professionals in the pr, marketing, and communications industries and are put on annually by the Colorado Healthcare Communicators (CHC), who serve the community and their members by striving to increase the quality of professional healthcare knowledge and performance, as well as by strengthening communication between those in the healthcare field. In the Collateral category, CHC recognizes the best selection of publications used to support the sales of a product or service and judges this category based on content, design, and which piece is most effective at communicating its goal. In the website category, CHC recognizes the best internal or external website and judges this category based on the navigation quality, content, creativity, and which site is the most effective medium.

The goal of the Colorado Health Foundation is to make Colorado the most healthy state in the country and the foundation strives to achieve this goal by working to increase the number of Coloradans who have access to quality health insurance and care. TCHF is a supporter of its community by providing grants and initiatives to non profit health care organizations who share the same passion that TCHF does. TCHF has created its Health Report Card (HRC) as a tool for measuring how healthy Colorado is and its success rate on a variety of health issues within the state. The HRC is also used as a comparison to see how Colorado’s health matches up with that of other states. TCHF analyzes important data on these health areas in order to come to conclusions in its report on how our state needs to improve and recommends specific initiatives that will contribute to Colorado’s health goals. TCHF’s hope is that through the HRC’s findings, health care and government officials will be inspired to take action to improve our state’s health performance. 2009 has been the fourth year that TCHF has released its Health Report Card and we are looking forward to many more.

Congratulations to TCHF for their silver leaf awards!

Anabliss is honored to be included in Alina Wheeler’s third edition of Designing Brand Identity. Our rebranding work for The Colorado Health Foundation was published alongside rebrands such as AT&T, FedEx and Walmart. Companies such as VSA Partners, Landor Associates and Pentagram grace the pages of this truly remarkable branding resource. We couldn’t be more pleased to be a part of such a valuable publication and have our work rubbing shoulders with some of the most elite brands in the world.

Anabliss’ brand development work for TeleTech was also a full-feature highlight – defining the collateral section of Wheeler’s book. Anabliss has had the privilege of working with TeleTech’s marketing department for over a decade; Our partners truly believe in the value of strategic, quality communications and this undertaking was no exception.

In an ever increasing, over-stimulating marketplace, we truly believe that the organizations with the strongest brands will retain a distinct advantage. The marketing examples that were selected for this publication are a testament to the companies who believe in what we do; They continually believe in our services and allow us to consistently build their brand equity.

A logo we created for a local pub has been selected for the upcoming LogoLounge project...

A logo we created for a local pub has been selected for the upcoming LogoLounge project, the new Master Library series. This series includes multiple books, each focusing on a specific logo design category. We will be featured in the Initials & Crests book and we are really excited to be included in this inaugural edition.

About the Logo
The Patriot & Loyalist Pub of Englewood, Colorado is a casual restaurant serving a combination of British and American tastes. We wanted to design around the concept of bringing together the best of both worlds, the Patriots (Americans) and the Loyalists (the British). Our goal was to design an icon that was authentic to old-world English standards, and after researching historic English pubs, beer labels and memorabilia we felt we had a pretty good grasp on the look we wanted to achieve. Many of the century-old English pubs used animals in their logo, so we decided to include a pair of horses we found in an early 1900′s farming catalog. And there you have it, the formation of the Patriot & Loyalist logo.

This identity has been used throughout the pub from signage to menus to glasses and coasters. Here is a glance at the logo, but be sure to look for it in the future Master Library LogoLounge!

We've received a few awards in the last six months that we forgot to mention, so we want to...

We’ve received a few awards in the last six months that we forgot to mention, so we want to recognize some of our achievements and the great projects we have worked on. First off are two projects we did for the University of Colorado Denver. The awards are for Higher Education Marketing. Here is a little bit about the award selection process. The Admissions Advertising Awards is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. This year, over two thousand entries were received from more than one-thousand colleges, universities and secondary schools from all fifty states and several foreign countries. Our pieces were part of group four which includes schools with 10,000-19,999 students.

We received a Silver award in the Publications category for Views Magazine. Views is a yearly publication for the University of Colorado Denver’s School of Public Affairs. We were tasked with refreshing the overall look of the magazine and giving it a more dynamic, contemporary feel. Through the use of interesting visual techniques and bold typography, the magazine received rave reviews. In addition, each of the three feature stories within the magazine was given its own unique design style, adding a bit of flair and unpredictability to the format of the publication.

We also received a Merit award in the Special Publication category for our Mid-Program Report of the Rocky Mountain Middle School Math and Science Partnership. This was a 24-page publication that was used to inform key educators and donors about the amazing progress that their new interactive math and scienceprogram has achieved in its first 2 years. The concept we came up with was a design that allowed the audience to interact with the piece. This was achieved with spot gloss varnishes of math and science elements throughout and short trimmed note-like pages to exhibit stories of people who have participated in the program.

Secondly, we received awards from the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC) in their Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards Competition. These awards salute superior communications of government agencies. Over 575 entries in 49 categories were received this year including international entries.

The first award was first place in the brochure/booklet category for the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Philadelphia Exhibitors brochure. The purpose of this brochure was to entice vendors to exhibit at the 2009 annual meeting. Rich, black and white photographs with a metallic metal effect printed behind them were used to communicate the rich history found in Philadelphia. These were placed opposite of colorful photography of the current city to highlight all of the fun things there are to do there.

The second NAGC award was first place for our New Orleans Main brochure which was entered in the Special Purpose Publication category. The purpose of this brochure was to convince legislators to attend the 2008 annual meeting in New Orleans. The design captured the rich colors and history of New Orleans (food, jazz, culture). We stayed away from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina and instead focused on colorful photography of the city and the culture there to show that New Orleans is still a place to visit.

Finally, we won two 2009 District VI Institutional Awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. We won a gold award for the cover, and a bronze award for the overall design, of Pinnacle magazine. Pinnacle is a yearly alumni magazine published by the University of Colorado Denver’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This was the publication’s first year of existence, which makes the awards even more special. Bryan Leister, assistant professor of UC Denver’s College of Arts & Media, created the winning illustration for the cover of the magazine. For the interior design, we created a collage-like aesthetic that gave the magazine a unique feel helped bring the stories to life.
